Charles Porter moved to Isle of Wight County, VA around 1715 and was granted land on 16 Aug 1715, 22 Feb 1724, and 28 Sep 1728 for a total of 695 acres on the south side of the Nottoway River in what is now Southampton County. An appraisal of his estate was recorded 27 Oct 1735.
