Dear Sis - I haven't much of the information you ask for but such as I have is yours - Mother was born in Vermont but what Tsp and Co. I don't know.
She and Papa were married in Waterbury Tsp. at the house of W.J. Swoffer and Grandfather performed the ceremony, he being a justice of the peace. Yes, you were born in Waterbury Tsp 4 miles north of Lamberton and there was 4 ft of snow on the level at the time.
Am not certain as to the dates but you can get those from the marriage certificates. It seems to me it was late fall when they were married and think it was '78.
We were living on the place north of Walnut that you know as the Charley Hanson place which mother traded to Charley's father on account of some trouble which DM Thorp was trying to make as to her title, she having a patent from Gov't as Soldier's Widow. My Dad, as you probably know, was a Civil War vet - but Mother never was able to find his discharge papers so could not get a pension, altho she tried hard to.
My Dad was born at Elmira, N.Y. and Mother just across the line in Vermont so the info you ask for should be easy to get. They were distant cousins of the same name.
Have spent part of the winter out at the ranch but most of it in town. Have not lost any of my babies "skunks" so far and they are sure looking fine, altho they have been rather expensive this winter as they did not stop for any big sleep on account of nice weather. We have had only 4 days below zero, no snow and all around it has been the nicest winter I ever saw in this latitude. The folks are all fine here and send regards. Is Aunt May still with you?
Must close now as I have several other letters I must write to get off on the first train.
Lots of love to all, Al
